This is a great oil based clay pomade, and I can see why this has such a cult following. It has that typical Shear Revival scent, which I actually like because it goes with basically anything and won't compete with a fragrance. My results with this are actually very slick and in line with what you'd expect with a traditional oil based pomade but you get the best of both worlds because you get this flowing texture that you can only get with clay products. Wonderful stuff, I recommend this to anybody who likes slicker hair products but wants a bit of texture to show through.
This is great stuff! It’s a firm scoop…at least the top layer. Breaks down well in the hands and applies like a dream. The finish is matte with that OB sheen. Texture is super course. This competes with GCTB as my #1 OB Clay. After I received my order I went back and ordered another. I just wish it was permanent in their line.
I am a pomade snob and have tried just about every brand out there -- O'douds, Firsthand Supply, Earthmade, Bearded Bastard, Daimon Barber, etc., etc. as well as many Shear Revival products. This Cellar Door is just unreal. Everything about it is perfect. There is no, "This is awesome, I just wish it had a touch more____ or a bit less___" No. The only thing that can be said about this is "I hope they NEVER take this off their site." It is that good. The texture is amazing. The hold is that magical firm but gentle and malleable. It is dry, but slick. It smells divine. I'm really, really impressed.
Hits all the marks honestly, the scent, the scoop, the application, the control, the finish. Absolutely fantastic and is a great contender in the oil based clay market. If you ever get the chance to try this clay, DO SO!!
Everything about this is up to snuff. It'd be really cool if Mr. Zach would keep this in the lineup permanently. Just saying!
